Who Can Volunteer?

Rancho Cordova Food Locker has a wide variety of volunteer roles and experiences available five days a week. Volunteering is a fun, physically active work experience. We welcome volunteers of any age, though children younger than 12 should be accompanied by an adult.

Water, beverages, and snacks are provided for volunteers.

We are especially interested in building our volunteer ranks with community members who can help translate for our Russian, Ukrainian, and Spanish neighbors and guests.

What Should I Expect?

Food Distribution at Rancho Cordova Food Locker takes place in a partly covered indoor/outdoor area.

 

To ensure the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, and community, RCFL requires the following:

  • Closed-toed shoes
  • Comfortable clothing for working outdoors
  • Ability to stand, lift, push, and pull items (many volunteer positions are physical in nature and may include long periods of standing or moving)
  • Masks are available, but not required.

Food Distribution Volunteers

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Food distribution volunteers offer food items to guests, assist with foot traffic, help guests transport their items, and more.

Packing/Preparation Volunteers

Tuesday and Thursday
9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Packing/Preparation volunteers sort grocery items, package bulk produce, bag groceries and organize donations.

Volunteering is a great team-building experience! Custom shifts are available for corporate and community groups Mondays through Thursdays and some Saturdays.
