From Pantry to Possibility: The Community Food Hub

We are building the region’s first Community Food Hub, an innovative reimagining of the traditional food pantry. At the heart of this transformation is a free grocery store-style shopping experience that empowers individuals and families to choose foods that meet their unique dietary, cultural, and health needs – replacing pre-packed food boxes with dignity, autonomy, and access.

What Makes the Community Food Hub Different?

  • Choice & Dignity: Guests shop weekly, just like you and I, with the ability to select items that work best for their households.
  • Culturally Responsive: We stock foods that reflect the preferences of our diverse population, including immigrant and refugee communities.
  • Health-Focused: We prioritize fresh produce, whole grains, and proteins to support community wellness.
  • Wraparound Support: In partnership with other nonprofits, we will co-locate services such as CalFresh enrollment, nutrition education, healthcare screenings, and family resources.
  • Sustainability: Through food recovery partnerships and waste reduction strategies, we’re also helping the region meet SB 1383 mandates.
